Overloading your skin with too many products can be confusing and counterintuitive. Remember, skin is an intelligent human organ with the ability to take care of itself. Too many topical products can disrupt the skins natural function. Instead, opt for a routine that supports your skins own regenerative abilities.

Follow our beginners guide below, learn to strip back your routine, and get the most out of your products… and say hello to balanced, healthy skin.

BACK TO BASICS
Cleanse, Serum, Moisturise, SPF.

A daily regimen of these foundational steps are the building blocks to good skin health. You can build on this with mists, masks, oils and exfoliating products to supercharge your skin - as required.

Cleanse:

A thorough cleanse should take place at night to encourage the skin to regenerate while you sleep. We recommend cleansing twice to remove makeup, SPF and the daily build-up of grime. With a thorough evening cleanse, cleansing in the morning only needs to be gentle or if you have normal or skin on the drier side consider skipping the AM cleanse altogether (a splash of water should do it).

At night start with an oil based cleanser such as MARA’s Enzyme Cleanser to allow for a facial massage and breakdown the superficial layer of grime. As a secondary cleanse - opt for a deeper clean with iS Clinical’s Complex Cleanser, Circumference Daily Regenerative Cleanser or Doctor Rogers Restore (Note: Its important to choose a cleanser suited to your skin type)

Knowing your skin type is the number one rule before diving into the world of skincare products.

Serums:

Not sure where to start? Start with a Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most effective skincare ingredients and essential for high functioning skin, no matter the skin type. Applied directly after cleansing, AM & PM, Hyaluronic Acid will provide immediate and long term hydration. Hyaluronic Acid also pairs very nicely with other products so you can’t go wrong.

You could also consider a gentle ‘do it all’ serum as your gateway to the wonderful world of serums… a serum such as NIODs Copper Amino 3:1 or U Beauty’s Resurfacing Compound are AM/PM solutions that are deemed do-it-all treatments that tick many boxes for optimising skin health.

Your skin responds to continuity, allow it the time and patience to get used to products in order for them to take effect.

Hydrate & Protect

Finally, seal and protect! Lock in your skins hydration with moisturisers suited to your skin type, opt for rich and nourishing for dry, or light and hydrating for oily or blemish prone and NEVER skip on SPF. layering this as your final step in your morning routine.

KNOW YOUR SKIN

Knowing your skin type is the number one rule before diving into the world of skincare products. Are you Oily? Dry? Combination? Sensitive or Normal? Knowing your type will ensure the products you apply are relative to your needs. Equally, learn what skincare ingredients are best suited to your concern. Often serums will offer multiple benefits in the one formula, so avoid layering products and focus on one or two that are good quality and hardworking. And we are here to help you select the best option for your skin.

KNOW INGREDIENTS

Some basic ingredients in skincare to know…

Niacinamide: is great for calming, brightening and treating blemishes

Vitamin C : An important daily antioxidant favoured by skincare experts to protect skin, minimise dark spots and even the complexion

Salicylic Acid : Excellent for treating breakouts

Retinol : The undisputed darling of dermatology that is a proven anti-ageing ingredient. It refines the skins texture, boosts collagen and helps with blemishes.

Lactic Acid : A mild re-surfacer for sensitive skin

Glycolic Acid : A potent AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that’s an effective exfoliator with skin renewing qualities.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY

Your skin responds to continuity, allow it the time and patience to get used to products in order for them to take effect. With too many additions or changes you will never know what works for you. Stick to the same routine for 4 -6 weeks at a minimum. If you are introducing new products, try and introduce slowly (one at a time), and ensure you aren’t doubling up.

STREAMLINE
