I.Cassidy- you are a quintessential New Zealand beauty, what is your heritage?
C.My dad’s family is Māori and my mum is a kiwi.
I. Being a model and TV presenter you’re in the public eye a lot… how do you maintain your natural radiance to be always camera ready?
C.Generally when I am filming, I am always “makeup heavy”, that’s just what comes with television, so as soon as filming stops the makeup comes off – I am really diligent with this.
I religiously use Bioderma Sensibio H20 to remove all makeup and let my skin breathe. I love it because it really gets everything off and is super gentle. It’s important to keep my skin clean and refreshed between shooting.
I.What are your daily wellness rituals?
C.I always start off my day with a big glass of water, and am loving my green smoothies for breaky! Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day- I really get excited for this. At the moment I’m adding a bit of Sunpotion Ashwaganda to my mornings, which is good for keeping up energy levels.
I’ve also recently got into Pilates, which has been a game changer for me. My morning starts with a focus on breathing and posture, which sets me up for a good day ahead. This has definitely become a ritual.
’I've been using the Shani Darden Toning Essence as part of my cleansing regime to help balance out any breakouts or dryness. It’s such a nice step before I moisturise, my skin feels brighter and clear.
I. When you’re not in front of the camera what is your go-to beauty look and how do you achieve it?
C.When I am not in front of the camera I try to be as natural as possible. Television make-up can leave my skin feeling quite dry and congested with product, so I like to leave it fresh and glowing between shoots.
I’ve been using the Shani Darden Toning Essence as part of my cleansing regime to help balance out any breakouts or dryness. It’s such a nice step before I moisturise, my skin feels brighter and clear. After a cleanse and tone, I’ll apply my Osmosis moisturiser with SPF. Usually I leave it at that...but if I’m out and about, I’ll add a small amount of sheer foundation and a natural lip balm. I am also doing the no mascara look at the moment. There’s something about the light feel of this that I love so much.
I.You travel a lot … what are your top tips for staying fresh when in the air and post flight?C.Definitely drink a lot of water! I never wear makeup on any flights, I find its important to keep your skin as clear and fresh as possible. I love the CODAGE Hydrating Mist when flying long haul. I just mist throughout the journey to keep my skin feeling super hydrated. Sometimes I’ll apply the Osmosis Mango mask before I go to sleep.
I apply a thin layer, so my skin feels moisturised when I wake up.
I.What are your favourite cities to visit??
C. I have just recently been to New York City for work, and this has to be one of my all-time favourite cities'! There is just so much character, I can’t wait to go back as a tourist and explore.
I. When you’re home in NZ, what are your go-to spots for food and working out.
C.I am such a foodie it is ridiculous! I love going out for brunch... Odettes and Ozone are my usual go-to's.
For dinner- Japanese at Azabu would have to be my favourite, and my regular exercise spots- are K-core Pilates and Studio Box in New Market
I.Can you talk us through how you get ready for a fun night out?
I love getting ready with my girlfriends,- this makes the process so much more fun. I always wash my hair that afternoon and just let it dry naturally. I’ll add some dry shampoo to give it volume and use the Leonor Greyl styling cream to tame my ends, this just eliminates any frizz- its super quick and easy.
Generally my look is pretty effortless. I’ll use Embryolisse Moisturiser under my make up- it’s the best primer.. I’ll then use a light Nars foundation, YSL concealer and Tom Ford Contour for my cheeks. On my eyes I use natural bronze tones with a matte finish, Nars mascara and glossier boy brow on the brows.
I prefer just a hydrating lip balm for lips. I’ll then give my skin a spritz with the CODAGE hydrating mist for a dewy finish. This is generally my go-to for most occasions.
I. What do you do for exercise?
C.I love to mix up my exercise regime- so it’s quite all over the place. I work out five days a week with a mixture of boxing, yoga, Pilates and HIIT.
I.What does your typical day on a plate look like?
C. I start my mornings off with a green smoothie, usually with berries, pea protein, almond milk, spinach, green powder and chia seeds (sometimes banana if before a work out), and lunch I will either have a vege wrap or tuna and hummus on corn thins- very simple. For dinner I love to switch it up, either a salad and fish, or I am loving making homemade pizzas. You can now buy cauliflower bases from the supermarket so have been having these with veges on top.
I don’t eat meat, just fish so I try my best to snack on nuts etc throughout the day to keep energy levels up.
I.Can you talk us through your beauty routine?
C. I start my mornings off by showering, then a simple cleanse with Bioderma Sensibio H20 to get rid of any build up overnight. Then I apply Shani Dardens Toning Essence to help with brightening and keeping skin clear, followed by NIOD eye contour serum.
My eyes are usually quite puffy in the morning so this eye serum really helps. Then I apply my Osmosis SPF moisturiser
I.And evening routine?
C.Before bed I’ll douse cotton pads with Bioderma Sensibio H20 and cleanse my skin thoroughly. It removes makeup and any dirt my face has picked up throughout the day, I love it. its gentle but still gets everything off. I then apply toning essence, and NIODS eye contour serum
I like to use a nourishing moisturiser or face oil so my skin is hydrated throughout the night . At the moment I’m using The Ordinary Marula Oil and Embryolisse.
