I. Becks, we know you're a morning person and enjoy a ritual. What is the first thing you do in the morning to set you up for a productive day?
B. I always get up and make the bed! It’s a great way to start the day, knowing one task is ticked off and your bedroom is nice and tidy. This is followed by a coffee on the balcony with Jason if it’s a nice day & straight into my skincare / beauty routine.
I. You travel a lot! what are your essentials for skin and hair care on the go, and how do you maintain your self-care practise while not at home. ?
B. My travel schedule has been very full on this year, but I feel like I got my essentials down to a fine art! When I travel I always take the below on the plane with me:
● Makeup wipes or remover
● Detol
● Hydralyte tablets
● Hydrating spray
● Tinted moisturiser, mascara, eyebrow pencil
● Hydrating lip balm
In my checked in luggage I always have my other beauty & skincare essentials (the must-haves), and I also transfer my Oribe Shampoo & Conditioner into smaller travel bottles.
NOTE: Always pop your toiletry bag into another waterproof bag of some sort incase anything leaks on the journey.
In terms of self-care I try to get out and about and go on big walks. It’s also a great way to see new cities. When I can I also book into reformer pilates classes overseas so that I can try and maintain my 2-3 classes that I normally do at home.
I.When you land, what is the first thing you do to recover from the harsh effects of flying?
B.Hydrate! I always make sure I drink a lot of water. In the evening I also do a really hydrating overnight mask as well.
I. Do you have a recipe you can share with us, something in your repertoire that is a reliable go-to, to nourish or detox your body from within
B. Yes I always have a green smoothie each day - Banana, spinach, mango or mixed berries, coconut milk or coconut water, The Beauty Chef Glow & occasionally the cleanse powder too.
I’m a big believer in beauty starting from within and looking after your gut. My go-to daily is the GLOW powder, even when I travel I take their small single serve sachets
I. We know you’re an avid fan of The Beauty Chef- us too! what are your favourite products, and how do they support you on a daily basis??
B.I love so many of their products, I’m a big believer in beauty starting from within and looking after your gut. My go-to daily is the GLOW powder, even when I travel I take their small single serve sachets. Being a pre and probiotic they help me to maintain a healthy gut even when I travel. I really notice the difference in my skin too when I maintain the routine.
I. If you are ever feeling overwhelmed, foggy and groggy, do you have any methods to restore clarity and motivation?
B. I always stop, reflect, review & refocus. I think it’s important to take some time out when you are feeling like this and usually I opt for a walk where I can clear my head & get some fresh air. I avoid coffee and try to drink more water. Once I’m feeling calm, I look over my workload or concerns, review where I’m at and refocus by problem solving and creating a strategy to get through it.
I.Have you, or do you, experience any skin niggles in particular? And how do you tackle these?
B. Over the past few years I have experienced hormonal breakouts. When it first started happening it was really bad. I ended up getting very bad scaring & felt really self conscious - especially having to attend events & photoshoots in my line of work. To help clear it up I really focused on my diet & fitness (this is when I became addicted to The Beauty Chef). I avoided dairy, coffee, & alcohol when my skin was breaking out. I also did fortnightly facials for around 3 months & light therapy to help heal the scaring (I’ve just been recommend the LightStim to help with the last few scars & to help manage the breakouts too!). Once my skin settled from the treatments, I made sure I only focused on natural or clean skincare for a good year. Over the last 6 months I’ve started using a few more active skincare products (low key ones) that suit my skin. I always make sure I only add 1 product at a time and see how it handles it after my 28 day skin cycle.
I. You value good haircare- we appreciate that! What are your favourite cleansing, nourishing and styling products?
B.Without a doubt my go-to haircare products are Oribe scalp collection for shampoo & conditioner. I also love Christopher Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt. In terms of styling tools I love the Cloud Nine curling wands. I always finish my look with ByOribe Dry Texturising Spray.
Without a doubt my go-to haircare products are Oribe Scalp Collection for Shampoo & Conditioner.
I. What is your night time self-care routine? – your beauty routine, sleep preparation or wind down rituals to close the day
B.
● 1hr - 30minutes before I go to bed I often make The Beauty Chef SLEEP Drink. Especially when I’ve had a busy day.
● I remove my makeup with Bioderma Makeup wipes
● I have a shower & cleanse my face (one a week I’ll exfoliate)
● Tone
● Vitamin A serum (every 2nd night)
● Eye Cream
● Moisturise
I use a lavender spray on my pillow if I’m feeling stressed and I recently (due to being very busy at work) I’ve started paying a sleep app called ‘ Calm ‘ in the evenings that makes soothing sounds you can fall asleep too.
Once a week I’ll do leave on mask + I occasionally use Rose Hip Oil too. In the morning I use a Vitamin C serum and always apply SPF to protect my skin followed by Lait Creme Concentre before I do my makeup.
I. Who is your beauty icon? And why?
B.My gf Eleanor Pendleton from Gritty Pretty - she is a beauty guru and a ball of knowledge when it comes to beauty, skincare, health and wellbeing. She also always has the perfect glow.
