EXFOLIATION 101

Regular exfoliation is essential for every skin type and crucial for radiant skin.

As we age, our cell turnover slows down meaning a buildup of dead skin cells that can result in a dull, lacklustre complexion as well as attributing to potential blemishes.

Exfoliating 2-3 times a week helps to brighten, decongest and smooth skin and also ensures skincare that follows is absorbed properly. Either a scrub, gentle acid or enzyme mask are effective ways to exfoliate. What you opt for will depend on your skin type and concerns. Here we talk you through each of these exfoliating options and which one is best suited for you ....

1

Lactic Acid

Lactic Acid is AHA (ALpha Hydroxy Acid) and one of the more gentle acids. It works to exfoliate skin to reveal smoother, brighter skin. And it also helps with discolouration and balancing oily skin

The Ordinary's Lactic Acid 10% is an excellent option for all skin types (excluding sensitive) that promotes a bright, even tone & smooth, soft texture. It's an excellent option for those new to exfoliating with acids.

2

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic Acid is also and AHA, which comes from sugar cane and is stronger than lactic acid. In addition to its incredible exfoliating properties it can boost collagen in the skin and help to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Cane & Austins easy to use pads are offered in various grades 10%, 20% and 30% that work to restore vitality in the skin. Not only do they exfoliate beautifully, they also reduce fine lines, wrinkles & ages spots. Suitable for all skin types.

3

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) and is a must have for clear skin. It shares many of the of the benefits of AHA's but is incredible for clearing out pores and banishing blemishes.

Cane & Austin's 2% Salicylic + 5% Glycolic treatment pads are a powerful combination that specifically target acne. Working to dissolve dirt, debris & denim resulting in instantaneously clearer, brighter skin.

4

Exfoliating Enzymes

Exfoliating Enzymes work to dissolve dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin (whereas acids work deeper into the skins barrier). Enzymes are fruit derived and absent of acids meaning a gentler, no sting exfoliation, suitable for sensitive skin types.

Josh Rosebrook's Exfoliating Mask is a professional resurfacing treatment that renews skin with potent natural enzymes to remove dead skin & walnut shells powder to mechanically reveal new skin. A powerful dual action exfoliant perfect for sensitivity, rosacea & psoriasis.

5

Scrubs

Facial scrubs contain small particles or beads, and when massaged over the skin help smooth it by lifting off dry, dead skin cells. If you opt for a scrub ensure the beads are fine and be sure not to over-scrub as this can cause irritation and potentially create micro-tears on the skin

NUXE's Gentle Exfoliating Gel is a natural & gentle formula, developed with Lychee Seed extracts & Walnut Powder to refine skin texture & eliminate dead skin cells. Ideal for all skin types, including sensitive.
