R.I.P DEAD SKN

Our skin sheds millions of skin cells a day, sometimes requiring a little help to actively remove those that don’t fall off on their own.

That ashy shade you might be seeing on your skin is likely a buildup of dead skin cells that are needing a good old sweep. Think of that build up like a layer of dust (yes, not a nice thought) that is preventing your skin from reflecting light, causing the lackluster complexion looking back at you in the mirror.

This is such an easy fix. Introduce exfoliating into your regime. Whether a twice weekly scrub or mask, or a daily solution with AHA or BHA (acids). You’ll be lookin’ alive in no time.

WASH IT OFF

A very straight forward step to renewing your skin is simply washing your face before bed- not once, but twice.

During the day our skin picks up dirt, and environmental pollutants creating free radicals that sit on the skin. Free radicals cause damage to our skin- causing collagen break down, pigmentation and uneven skin tone, which in the long term can cause premature ageing and textural damage. On top of that- going to sleep with makeup, oil and grime still sitting on your skin can cause an immediate complexion crisis. Not only will all your hardworking serums and creams fail to penetrate and do their thing- but this layer of dirt will accumulate in pores, resulting in black heads and blemishes contributing to dullness. So, now we have breakouts as well as a dull complexion.. not, great

A very straight forward step to renewing your skin is simply washing your face before bed- not once, but twice.

Cleanse ONE will remove make up, sunscreen, sweat and debris, cleanse TWO will cleanse the skin of any remaining residue. Now your skin is primed to drink in all your skincare.

The crème de la crème of skin brightening ingredients. Vit C is our hero when it comes to illuminating skin, erasing sun spots and boosting antioxidant protection

Vit C not only brightens the complexion, but it neutralizes free radical damage and protects the skin against UV light and other environmental aggressors, as well as blocking the production of pigmentation, fading dark spots and unifying skin tone in the long term.

DRINK UP

Hydration is crucial when it comes to a radiant complexion. CRUCIAL. We like to start every single day with a large glass of water and then some, especially before reaching for a morning coffee.

This should set the tone for H20 intake throughout the day. 2-3 litres daily will do wonders for your complexion. Try also incorporating water rich fruit and veg on your plate.

Now for skincare. Hyaluronic Acid is the ingredient you need to look for. It provides immediate results to dull skin lacking in hydration- plumping, quenching and combating creepiness and fine lines. Serums will offer deeper penetration, and creams and lotions will lock hydration in.

Rejoice for RETINOL

A skin brightening 101 wouldn’t be complete without a shout out to retinol. Perhaps the most effective solution for stimulating collagen production, and skin cell turnover, effectively resurfacing the complexion's surface area to uncover brighter, tauter, and more even skin.

Our go-to treatments are none other than Shani Darden’s CULT Retinol Reform, formulated with hydrating and brightening lactic acid, and U Beauty’s Resurfacing Compound. This multi beneficial serum replaces up to 6 products in a single skincare step. Both pack a punch, but won’t’ leave you with dry flaky skin associated with retinol. Luminosity guaranteed.

Facial Massages

A loving and highly accessible way to boost you complexion is a feel good facial massage. Either while you cleanse (opt for a hydrating cleanser with slip), while you’re applying serums, or with an ancient facial tool such as the Gua Sha.

Find your own technique, just ensuring you’re always working against gravity- upward and outward.

Whether using your hands or a massage tool, work into the facial contours with firm pressure – releasing tension and moving stagnant lymph. The result should be rosy cheeks and a healthy glow

TIP: use a facial oil with hydrating skincare ingredients, for added slip and nourishment

INSIDE OUT

Diet, lifestyle and sleep are the largest contributing factors when it comes to skin luminosity.

You know the drill, you are what you eat and as always, we’re starting with the inside: enough sleep, a clean diet, 2L + water a day and some supportive supplements to boost nutritional intake and supercharge your system. This will fast-track your skin to glowing glory.

Your complexion is a direct reflection of what’s going on internally so this should be your no.1 priority if skin is looking a lil’ dusty.

OK, Go forth and GLOW
